Dallas Zoo, Texas

"The Dallas Zoo was founded in 1888, making it the first zoological park in the Southwest." ...
"With 106 acres to explore, thousands of animals to visit, and a huge variety of family activities, the Dallas Zoo is enormously entertaining!" ...
"Welcome to the Largest Zoological Experience in Texas!"

Below are pictures and my review of my trip to the Dallas Zoo in Texas

Seeing an animal like this for the first time.  These are called Okapi ... ok, so this is what happens when a Giraffe mates with a Zebra? hehe :P
So here's my story: 1. Attracted ... 2. Flirted ... 3. Engaged  ;-)
Alligators ... (yes, the white is a fake!)
Anteater (I think is the funniest looking animal on Earth, sorry buddy :P)
Beaded Lizards - actually not as huge as they appear in photo...
Stage for bird shows that hardly last 20 minutes...
Camels - 1 for display, 1 for a ride ... that's it!
Chimps ... fun watching them; the little one was troubling its mom here :D
Can feed giraffes from real close - a man was feeding it lettuce mouth-to-mouth!!!
Different kinds of insects...
Meerkats ... really cute when they stand, scary when they sit!?
Population Counter ... (uh ... thanks for the information!)
A clean Rhino without any puddle around...
The Lonely Tiger...
Vulture ...

Verdict: I clicked very few pictures - there were elephants, gorilla, penguin, snakes, pythons, and some other animals, insects, reptiles & birds too.  The Dallas Zoo is big no doubt, but there is not much variety and very few animals - it's like you are seeing only a couple of 'samples' of each kind of creature.  Moreover, the place looked like dry & dull (may be since it was summers...)  But if you are curious to visit a zoo because you have never visited one in life, or if you want a casual trip for an educational weekend with your child, then this is probably fine.  Otherwise, this Dallas Zoo is not exactly 'enormously entertaining' as they claim!
